Individual Therapy

Wait, you’re a marriage and family therapist. Can you help just me?  By myself?

Yes, I work with individuals and usually that work still involves skills needed for strong connections. Here are some general ways I work with individuals:

Depression and Anxiety:     Dissatisfied with life?  Let’s figure out what needs to change and explore your idea of a fufilling life. Turns out when we spend all of our time and energy on things we think we should do we end up feeling discouraged, stressed, and burned out.

Emotional Awareness:     Begin to use your emotions as information and care for your feelings rather than being pushed around by them. Sometimes I call this Emotions 101 because let’s be real, none of us were taught this in school (just like how to file taxes). In this work I have seen clients improve their clarity, communication, relationships, self-trust, and stress levels.

Attachment Work:     Identify and understand your patterns in your behavior and emotions in order to be able to choose responses rather than react. Also known as helping you celebrate the holidays with your family without regressing back to your teenage self.

Self-Compassion:     Most people have no problem extending grace and compassion to others but can’t do it for themselves. We save bullying, criticism, and black and white thinking we for ourselves.

Burnout:     Add play, pleasure, rest, and connection to your life! And I might I suggest you don’t need to wake up before dawn to do it. Let’s try permission, encouragement and small, practical steps.

Relationships:     Understand your connections with others and see what you can change to improve them. This is where all those concepts that are hot on TikTok enter the chat. I’m talking boundaries, control, and your nervous system.
