Hi, I’m Matt…

Pronouns he/him/his. I work with teens and young adults. By day I’m a school social worker, and on nights and weekend I work with clients through GR Family Therapy.

Matt is in-network with the following insurances: BlueCrossBlueShield, United Behavioral Health/Optum, straight Medicaid, McLaren Medicaid, and Meridian Medicaid.

From a young age, I knew I wanted to help and support adolescents and young adults.  While in highschool, I experienced the death of my father which only deepened my understanding of the difficulties of growing up and getting older. Since then, I knew I wanted to help others who are also struggling during their adolescent and young adult years.

After completing highschool, I attended Calvin College for my Bachelors of Social Work and Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. After completing my undergraduate degree, I attended the University of Michigan where I specialized in Mental Health, Interpersonal Practice, and School Social Work. Since graduation, I have had the opportunity to work as a Medical Social Worker, Home-Based Mental Health Therapist, and School Social Worker since 2017.

I use a variety of different therapy techniques to help each client reach their goals. These include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness-based interventions. Encompassing all these modalities is a safe non-judgmental space where each client has the ability to be themselves.

When I am not at my school social work job or seeing clients at GR Family Therapy, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, golfing, and laying on the beach.
